Many different types of helicopters have saved people over the last half-a-century.    A helicopter-shaped artwork would be recognised as a specific chopper, whereas an eagle symbolises them all.

eagle, wildlife, bird

Inspired by the eagle that snatched Gandalf to safety in the Tolkien stories, the Haast Club artworks depict the largest eagle ever to have existed in the world, the extinct New Zealand Haast eagle.

Who's behind the Haast Club idea?

Northland Rescue helicopter pilot and award-winning sculptor, Susan Dinkelacker, created the Haast Club and artworks. (www.bronzekiwi.com).

Susan has worked in HEMS  (Helicopter Emergency Medical Services) in New Zealand for over seven years, and is currently a Captain flying the Northland Rescue Helicopters Sikorsky S76C++ helicopters in Whangarei.
